Welcome to IRIS @ York University!
We are a university-wide interdisciplinary centre dedicated to pursuing multifaceted approaches to the contemporary challenges of sustainability. What this means is that academics like me have the extraordinary privilege of milking cashmere goats in the Little Gobi Desert, while learning about how our colleagues at the National University of Mongolia are tackling water issues in that country.
The York University research community has a huge breadth and depth of expertise in sustainability and related issues. It’s my goal for IRIS that research collaborations and innovative ideas will be created and nurtured, in a way that would not be likely to happen within the regular academic structure of the university.
