Current Interests: Carbon conservation through avoided deforestation and forest management. Whole school approaches to education for sustainable development. Director of Idle Free Ontario.

Biography
Vanessa Alsop is completing her Master’s in Environmental Studies. Her research focus is carbon conservation and biological conservation, Vanessa has been researching the case for carbon conservation in the old growth red and white pines in Temagami. In addition she has set up Idle Free Ontario as part of a project at York and instigated the production and sale of carbon certificates as a fundraising initiative for a student forest conservation project in Costa Rica. Vanessa has also been on the IRIS executive and YorkWise committee.
